Project Essay Application for 2008 Education Support Begins!

We have started accepting project essays for the educational subsidy 2008.
Writing an essay would be a good opportunity to reflect on your daily educational activities, so why not consider making it as one of your goals this year and submit one?

Sony Science Education Program for Children

We are accepting educational programs and practices to “Foster children with an appreciation for the science” through various educational activities mainly of science/ life studies.

  • Theme: “Foster children with an appreciation for the science”
  • Importance of “Why?”/Nurturing sensibility, creativity, subjectivity
  • Qualification:All public and private elementary/junior high schools.
  • Deadline: September 3rd (Wed), 2008. (As indicated by the postmark on envelope)

Sony Preschool Education Program for Children

We welcome enthusiastic education proposals that carefully nurture children’s “why?”s and “how?”s to develop “rich sensibility” and “creativity”.

  • Theme: “Nurturing scientific mind”
  • Qualification: All preschools and nurseries/ qualified day-care centers (Activities mainly for 3-5 year olds)
  • Deadline: September 18th (Thu), 2008 (As indicated by the postmark on the envelope)

SSTA - Visiting branch workshops around Japan

About 1900 members from 49 branches in 46 prefectures throughout Japan participate in Sony Science Teaching Association. From the end of January, the foundation staff began visiting each branch to explain the essay application process among other things.

Sony Preschool Education Program for Children

New Project for Guardians
Photo Contest -“In search for the Scientific Mind”

We are currently accepting picturesque shots of children for the photo contest “In search for the Scientific Mind”.
Send us photos of children before school age that show their “scientific minds”. Newly taken photographs as well as shots taken in the past are welcome. Please send them in along with a message or comment less than 50 letters, that describes the picture.

  • Application deadline: March 31st (Mon), 2008
  • Qualification: Guardians of children below 6 at the time of application.
  • Application method: Fill in necessary items in the application form, attach photograph and send via postal mail.
  • Prize announcement: Late April

Senders of the awarded photographs will receive Sony video camera, digital still camera and more.

The sent in photographs will be posted on our webpage as much as possible.

So that many people can read the book “Scientific Mind Developed in Childhood” published this year, we have sent copies of the book to libraries around Japan.
