Preschool Education Program for Children/
"Nurturing scientific mind"
This year, we received applications from 197 elementary and junior high schools for Sony Science Education Program for Children, and from 90 kindergartens and nurseries for Preschool Educational Program for Children from all over the country.
After document screening, visit to schools, and the final examination by the awarding committee, awardment schools and preschools for 2007 have been selected as follows. For the awarded schools and preschools, educational subsidy (total of 26.8 million yen) and Sony products (sum market price worth 25.4 million yen including prize for participation) were granted by Sony Education Foundation and Sony Corporation. Award ceremonies for winning schools and preschools were held at Sony Headquarters on January 19 (Sat), 2008.
Sony Science Education Program for Children/"Foster children with an appreciation for the sciences"
The following 2 schools have been selected as Full Awardment Project Schools. Each school received educational subsidy of 3 million yen and Sony products(*)to each school.
- Yonezu Municipal Elementary School of Nishio City (Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture)
Ms.Kazuko Kamoshita, Principal - Midorimachi Municipal Junior High School of Chiba City (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture)
Mr.Taro Okamura, Principal
- Advanced Project Awardment School (16 schools) - Each school received educational subsidy of 500 thousand yen and *Sony products
- Fine Effort Awardment School (69 schools) - Each school received educational subsidy 100 thousand yen and Sony products (2 digital still cameras)
The following 2 preschools have been selected as Full Awardment Project Schools.
Each preschool received educational subsidy of 1 million yen and *Sony products.
- Umenoki Municipal Kindergarten of Kita-ward (Kita-ward, Tokyo)
Ms. Yasuko Araki, Principal - Izumigaoka Kindergarten of Tokiwakai College (Sakai City, Osaka)
Ms. Yoshiko Watanabe, Principal
- Advanced Project Awardment Preschool (12 schools) - Each school received educational subsidy of 200 thousand yen and *Sony products
- Fine Effort Awardment Preschool (29 schools) - Each school received education subsidy 50 thousand yen and Sony products

* Schools can choose from 46"LCD Hi-Vision TV, Data Projector, Laptop PC, or 10 Digital Still Cameras (Science Education Program for Children), Digital Photo Printer (Preschool Education Program for Children).
