June 1 to 30.2006

Sony Science Education Program for Children & SSTA

The Class Instruction Discussion Session was held at Kariya Higashi Junior High School in Aichi Prefecture, the Full Awardment Project School FY2005!

On Friday, June 16th, the class instruction discussion session was held at Kariya Higashi Junior High School in Aichi Prefecture under the theme "Fostering Children with enquiring attitudes and an appreciation for the science- Nurturing sensibility, creativity, and independence" and the subtopic "Creating Classes that Inspire Students to Love Your Subject".
More than 300 teachers from Aichi and other prefectures participated in the workshop.
The school's uniqueness lies in its cross-curriculums that link science with other subjects with the themes "Climbing Mt. Fuji" and "Life", as well as the effort in "Creating Classes that Inspire Students to Love Your Subject".
Followed by the open lessons in all the subjects that demonstrated those principles, active discussions were held in 7 sectional meetings.
This time, many science teachers from not only junior high schools but preschools, elementary schools, and high schools participated, as well as the teachers of other subjects like Japanese, mathematics, English, social studies, technology, home economics, music, arts and physical education.
Finally, a commemorative lecture was given by Dr. Shunpei Yamazaki, the President of Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd which ended in great success despite its taking place in the afternoon.

Training Workshops for Young Teachers 2006 ends in Niigata with great success

The workshops were held in Akita (June 3rd and 4th) and Niigata (June 17th and 18th).
At both locations, around twenty teachers with three to five years of teaching experience came from prefectures near and far to participate.
Both hosting branches presented carefully planned training programs, which centered around the creation of instruction plans and simulative lessons.
The young teachers received much inspiration through the discussions with teachers of other prefectures who they normally do not have a contact with, and took home precious hints for teaching the daily lessons.
