Sony Science Education Program for Children

The period for accepting educational project applications for the Sony Science Education Program for Children ended September 5, 2005.

This year, applications were received from a total of 170 schools from across Japan. Of these, 139 were from elementary schools and 31 from junior high schools.

Fact-finding visits will be conducted of the schools considered leading candidates for awardment after the screening process for all project application essays has been completed.
Final results will be announced December 19, 2005.

Sony Preschool Education Program for Children

1. Period Has Ended For Submitting Essays For Educational Project Applications to The Sony Preschool Education Program For Children

The deadline for submitting educational project essays for the Sony Preschool Education Program for Children, now in its fourth year, was Sept. 12. The Program received applications from a total of 62 schools located in 22 different municipal regions across Japan. The screening process has already begun and the schools qualifying for various levels of awardment, including Advanced Project School, will be finalized after fact-finding visits have been conducted. The names of the awardment qualifying schools will be posted on the Foundation web site around the middle of December.

2. Report Presentation Meeting to be Held at Advanced Project Recipient Onomachi Nursery School (Kanzawa City)

The Onomachi Nursery School (Kanzawa City), which has now qualified for the Advanced Project School awardment for the third time, will be holding its report presentation meeting at the school. The meeting for 2005 will feature open-house nursery school sessions, research reports and commemorative lectures based on the theme of "Fostering children with an appreciation for the sciences"
--- Through Enrichment in Communion with Nature.

"Wellspring of Science Inspiration---Children's Schoolhouse of Dreams"

The Japan Educational Press featured an article (pages 1 and 7, September 19 issue) on an event conducted by the Wellspring of Science Inspiration program.

Plans are already being drawn up for the Wellspring of Science Inspiration program to be held during the summer holidays in 2006.
