Sony Science Teachers Association (SSTA) Assistance Activities

Young Teacher Training Program (Tentative Name)

Seven members of the young teacher training subcommittee of the Research and Planning Committee were invited together with  Board of Trustees Director Susumu Hashimoto, new Research and Planning Committee Chairman Shuji Nozaki and former Research and Planning Committee Chairman Hideaki Yano to a meeting to discuss details concerning program themes, membership age bracket, scheduling of activities, length of reports (essays), the makeup of the screening committee and types of awardments.
There are issues on which discussion is continuing and any new decisions made will be presented at the Young Teacher Training Workshops scheduled for May and June.

Young Teacher Training Workshop

Young teacher trainees from a total of 42 SSTA chapters will be attending this year's workshops, marking a significant improvement in workshop attendance when compared with participation from only 32 chapters last year. The change is undoubtedly due to growing awareness of the need for young teacher training on the part of local SSTA chapters.
The Young Teacher Training Workshops will be held at five locations across the country starting from the middle of May and continuing through the end of June.

"Wanted: Project Plans Highly Motivated and With Sights Set on a Dream "

The Sony Preschool Education Program for Children would like to know your school's perspective on fostering children with an interest in the sciences and the approaches being taken.

The Sony Preschool Education Program for Children is aware of the importance of education for preschoolers in the three to five age bracket and accepts applications for assistance to practical application programs and educational plans from nursery schools and kindergartens throughout Japan, regardless of whether they are publicly or privately funded institutions.

The Program is dedicated to publicizing practical application and educational plans that feature educational excellence with the aim of providing as many interested people as possible with information on the characteristics of the schools that created the plans and the various creative and highly motivated characteristics. It is also hoped that preschool educators keep careful records of the even the simplest little things that children say from day-to-day so that they can be studied and used to gain a deeper understanding of children that can be applied to future educational activities.

Deadline for Application: September 12 (Mon.), 2005
