Sony Science Teachers Association
- The regular board of directors meeting, convened on March 6, reviewed and approved the annual budget and the Foundation's assistance program for 2004.
- The 1st preparatory orientation session was held in Japan on March 7 for those who will be attending the Overseas Education Workshop.
Sony Preschool Education Program for Children
Discussions on when to schedule the report presentation meetings for 2004 for the five schools (nursery schools and kindergartens) that received the Advanced Project Awardment in 2003 have been completed and the schedule drawn up.
Based on the theme of "fostering children with an appreciation for the sciences," the report presentation meetings will include a presentation on nursery school education, research reports, symposiums and commemorative lectures. The meetings will focus on the superior aspects of the advanced nursery education projects, with active participation and exchanges by nursery, kindergarten and primary school teachers.
The report presentation meetings will be held at the Moiwa nursery school (Sapporo City, Hokkaido) on July 2, 2004, at the Yahata Higashi nursery school (Kita-Kyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture) on Aug. 10, at the Onocho nursery school (Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture) on Sept. 17, at the Aizuwakamatsu nursery school (Aizuwakamatsu City in Fukushima Prefecture) on Oct. 16 and the Niwa nursery school and kindergarten (Shinagawa-ku in Tokyo) on Oct. 21
IT Communication
- The focus of IT communication is to post information on educational project recruitment and awardment results, the schedules for awardment presentation ceremonies, national meetings and report presentation meetings for the Sony Science Education Program for Children and the Sony Preschool Education Program for Children. This information is being supplemented by various related articles and comments in order to provide a more detailed perspective on the activities of each of the programs.
- The site Links section has recently been updated. Whereas the focus until now has been solely on Sony-related sites, links have now been added to non-Sony websites, such as museum, science pavilion and picture gallery sites. Links to useful and interesting websites will continue to be added
